BEN KRONE is the project manager of m127 for SHoP Architects. His work concentrates on procedural approaches to creating complex surface systems through the repetition of simple vector-based geometries. In 2004, Ben earned a Masters Degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture where he was the recipient of the prestigious McKim Prize and Sol Kaplan Fellowship for Excellence in Design. He has been practicing with SHoP Architects since 2003 and was a visiting critic at the University of Pennsylvania School of Architecture in 2005. His designs have been featured in Metropolis, Architectural Record and Interior Design magazines and on “HGTV.” Ben founded Grainworks Studio in 2005 as a design collective set to explore relationships between architecture and graphic arts through the use of computer-aided precision manufacturing processes.
ASSOCIATED FABRICATION provides specialty prototyping, fabrication and consulting services to architects, furniture designers and other design professionals. By combining extensive 3D digital design expertise, state-of-the-art CNC milling equipment, and a considered approach to constructability, Associated Fabrication quickly and efficiently brings clients' designs to life.
Founded by four graduates of the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, (William Mowat, Amy Stringer, Jeffrey Taras and Kenneth Tracy), Associated Fabrication is housed in a 4,000 square foot workshop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
